What a live score page shows
A football live score page shows the current score of every match that is in play, together with the match clock. It is the quickest way to follow a game when you cannot watch it. On LMEX the live score list covers ten competitions: the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga, Ligue 1, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League, Thai League 1, the J1 League in Japan and the K League 1 in South Korea. Matches from other competitions, other sports and international fixtures are not included, so a national team game will not appear here.
Each row shows the kick-off time in UTC, the two teams, the score and a small status line. While a match is being played the status line is the clock, for example 37' in the first half. At the break it reads Half time. After full time the cell keeps the final score and adds the half-time score, written as HT 1-0. A match that has not started shows Not started, and a match that has been moved shows Postponed. If a red card has been shown, the number of red cards for each side appears next to the score.
How the scores stay up to date
The page is built on our server with the latest stored score, so it is correct the moment it loads, even if your browser blocks scripts. A small script then asks our server for fresh numbers every 30 seconds while the tab is visible and updates only the cells that changed. You do not have to reload. When you switch to another tab the updates pause to save battery and data, and they catch up as soon as you return.
Behind that, our server collects scores from a football data provider. It does this only while a match we follow is in play or is about to kick off within 15 minutes, which keeps the load low. The data is therefore a sample taken every minute or so, not a feed from the stadium. A goal can show up on this page up to a minute or two after it happens, and sometimes later if the provider itself is late. If the last sample for a match is more than ten minutes old, we stop calling that match live and show its status instead of an old score.
Reading the clock
The match clock is worked out from the real start time of the current half, so it follows delays at kick-off. In the first half it counts from 1' to 45', and 45+' means the match is in stoppage time at the end of the half. In the second half the clock counts from 46' and 90+' means stoppage time. Extra time and penalty shoot-outs are shown with their own labels, Extra time and Penalties. Stoppage time is decided by the referee and is not counted by our clock, so the page cannot tell you how many minutes are left.
Time zones
Every kick-off time on this page is shown in UTC so that it means the same thing wherever you are. To convert: the United Kingdom is on UTC in winter and one hour ahead in summer, Nigeria (WAT) is UTC+1, India (IST) is UTC+5:30, and Malaysia and Singapore are UTC+8. A 15:00 UTC kick-off is therefore 15:00 in London in winter, 16:00 in Lagos, 20:30 in Mumbai and 23:00 in Kuala Lumpur. Each match page also lists the kick-off in these four zones.
Days on the English pages are UTC days. A match that starts at 19:00 UTC belongs to that UTC date for everybody, including readers in Asia for whom it is already the next morning. The Thai version of this page groups matches by Thai calendar day, so the two language versions list the same match under the same link but not always under the same date.
What happens after full time
When a match ends the score on this page becomes the final result and is saved. A finished result is never changed by a later feed that still shows the match as live. You can find the result on today's football results page, and on the day page for that date, which stays online permanently. Every match in the top eight competitions also has its own page, written as the two team names with vs between them, with the result, half-time score and the earlier meetings of the two teams that LMEX has recorded. Those pages are the place to look if you want to check a score later.
How to use live scores responsibly
A live score is information, not a signal to bet. Prices on a match change second by second during play, and the delay between an event and its appearance on any page is long enough that nobody can use a public score page to act ahead of the market. If you do bet, set a budget before the match, never chase losses, and stop when it stops being fun. Gambling is for adults aged 18 and over and is not legal everywhere. LMEX does not take bets and does not link to bookmakers on this page.
Why a score may differ from another site
Two sites showing different numbers for the same match is common for a few minutes. The usual causes are different data providers, different update intervals, a goal that is later disallowed after a video review, or an own goal credited to a different team. We show the score exactly as the provider reports it, and we correct a finished match only if the provider corrects it. If you see a mistake on a finished match, tell us through the contact page and we will check it against the official record.
Frequently asked questions
What is the live score of the match today?
Open the live score list at the top of this page. Matches in play are shown first with their score and clock, followed by every other match of the day with its kick-off time or final score. If nothing is in play, the page names the next match and its kick-off time in UTC.
Does this page show the England score today live?
No. LMEX covers club football in ten competitions and does not include international matches such as England games. For a national team match use the website of the national association or the broadcaster.
Who won today's match?
Finished matches keep their final score in the table, with the half-time score next to it. You can also open the football results page for today, or the match page for the game, which shows the result and the earlier meetings of the two teams.
How can I keep the live score on my phone?
Open this page in your browser and choose Add to Home Screen from the browser menu, or bookmark it. The page refreshes by itself every 30 seconds while it is open and visible, so you can leave it on screen during the match. LMEX does not send notifications.
Why does the live score show Awaiting official result?
That label appears when more than four hours have passed since kick-off and the provider has not confirmed that the match finished. It is a precaution so that we never show an unconfirmed score as final. The final score is added once it is confirmed.
